As a non profit organisation they are not driven to bias a diamond for profit yet they have a billion dollar turnover. GIA invented the modern diamond grading system and calibrate the diamond industry. If a diamond is fracture filled, clarity enhanced or improved in any way other than the cut then the GIA will detect and not certify the diamond. All the major diamonds over $100,000 USD are always GIA certified.
